Phased Arrays for Radar and Electronic Warfare
Phased Arrays for Radar and Electronic Warfare
Date: 28-29 January 2027
Time: 0930-1700
Venue: Copthorne King's Hotel
Synopsis:
This course provides a practical and application-focused understanding of phased array antennas and their use in modern radar and electronic warfare systems. Participants will explore array fundamentals, beam steering, sidelobe and grating-lobe behaviour, AESA architectures, T/R modules, digital and hybrid beamforming, mutual coupling, calibration, and wideband array considerations. The course then applies these concepts to radar and EW applications, including ESM/ELINT, direction finding, spatial filtering, adaptive beamforming, null steering, sidelobe cancellation, and directional electronic attack. Emerging technologies such as multifunction, distributed and digitally controlled arrays are also introduced.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for persons who work with, or need a refresher, or who wish to learn about the subject of phased arrays. This course would be beneficial to RF, microwave, antenna and communication engineers. Professionals working in defence related industries or a career in the armed forces would also find this course particularly useful. Attendees will learn the various concepts of phased arrays and apply them to the practical radar and EW systems
