Metasurface Driven Electronic Warfare
Metasurface Driven Electronic Warfare
Date: 8-9 September 2026
Time: 0930-1700
Venue: Copthorne King's Hotel
Course Instructor: Dr Rafael Licursi
Synopsis:
This course shows how metasurfaces can add extra levels of dynamism to the EW problem at the physical level. Metasurfaces can provide arbitrary, reconfigurable responses in the transmission, reflection, and absorption of electromagnetic waves. This course connects the dots between metasurfaces and EW. It covers not only metasurface-based stealth technology, but also applications in Electronic Support (ES), Electronic Attack (EA), and Electronic Protection (EP). The course will also discuss emerging use cases for distributed EW in drone swarms.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for defence engineers, military personnel, researchers, scientists, and technology professionals involved in electronic warfare (EW), radar systems, RF engineering, communications, electromagnetic spectrum operations, and advanced defence technologies. It is particularly relevant to personnel responsible for electronic warfare, counter-UAS technologies, and next-generation sensing and communications platforms. Participants seeking to understand how metasurfaces can transform future EW capabilities, stealth technologies, adaptive antennas, cognitive spectrum operations, and autonomous systems will benefit from this course.
